Generator

Fuel-powered electricity source. Generates power continuously as long as it has fuel and a spark plug.

Power Generator

Overview

The Generator is a fuel-powered electricity source that provides continuous power regardless of time of day. Unlike solar panels, it works at night and in any weather — as long as it has fuel and a valid spark plug. It uses the vanilla DayZ PowerGenerator as its base, with LF PowerGrid integration for wiring and network propagation.

How It Works

The generator integrates with DayZ's vanilla energy component (CompEM). When toggled on:

  • Validates the spark plug is attached and not ruined
  • Starts the vanilla CompEM fuel consumption cycle
  • Sets m_SourceOn = true and propagates power through the LFPG network
  • Continues running until fuel runs out, spark plug is removed, or manually switched off

The generator uses the LFPG toggle action instead of vanilla turn on/off actions. Vanilla electrical actions (plug in, unplug) are removed to prevent conflicts with the LFPG wiring system.

Requirements

  • Spark Plug: Must be attached in the spark plug slot. If removed while running, the generator shuts down immediately and propagates the power loss.
  • Fuel: Uses vanilla DayZ fuel consumption. Refill with jerry cans like a standard generator.

LED Indicator

  • Green: Running and generating power
  • Off: Not running (no fuel, no spark plug, or switched off)

Tips

  • The generator makes noise — other players can hear it. Consider placing it inside an enclosed room.
  • At 50 u/s, it matches the Solar Panel T2 but works 24/7. Great for underground or indoor bases.
  • Carry spare spark plugs — a ruined spark plug shuts the generator down immediately.
  • For fuel efficiency, charge a Substation Transformer with the generator, then turn it off. The transformer will sustain devices for hours.
  • Combine with solar panels for the most reliable setup: solar during the day, generator as backup at night.
