Overview

The Solar Panel T2 is an upgraded version of the Solar Panel T1, offering 2.5x more output (20 u/s → 50 u/s). This high-capacity power source is ideal for large bases requiring sustained energy generation during daylight hours. Like T1, it uses centralized NM timer logic for sun-driven binary on/off switching, automatically activating during daylight and deactivating at night with no LED indicators needed (source visibility is tracked via cable state).

How It Works

The Solar Panel T2 generates electricity when sunlight is available, switching on at dawn and off at dusk via centralized NM timer logic. Unlike Consumer or Passthrough devices, the T2 is a pure Source with no inputs—it only produces power on a single output port (output_1). The sun-driven mechanism is binary: fully active during daylight, completely inactive at night. No external power input is needed, and no LED indicators are present since the source state is visible through cable network monitoring.

Upgrade Path

To upgrade Solar Panel T1 to T2 in-place:

  • Already have Solar Panel T1 placed in world
  • Have a Hammer in your hands
  • Gather 5x Solar Plate and 20x Solar Nails
  • Craft time: 8 seconds

When the upgrade completes, the T1 is replaced with T2. Your wire connections are preserved, though a 180° yaw offset is applied to the panel orientation.

Wiring Examples

Basic Daytime Power

Solar Panel T2 (50 u/s daytime)
Battery
Devices

Direct the T2 output to a battery for storage and buffering. The battery charges during daylight and provides emergency power when the sun sets.

24-Hour Setup with Large Battery

Solar Panel T2 (50 u/s day)
Battery Large (50,000 u storage)
All Devices (24/7)

Combine Solar Panel T2 with a Battery Large to maintain power throughout the entire day/night cycle. The large capacity stores enough daytime generation for extended nighttime autonomy.

Multi-Panel Charging

Multiple T2 panels feeding a combiner can charge Battery Large at maximum speed.

Hybrid Solar + Furnace

50 u/s guaranteed

Pair T2 solar with furnace for true 24/7 autonomous operation. Furnace takes over at night while solar rests, ensuring constant power availability.

Tips

  • 2.5x output of T1 (50 u/s vs 20 u/s) — best choice for large bases
  • Sun-driven binary switching means zero configuration needed; automatically on/off with daylight
  • Daytime-only source requires battery storage or nighttime generator (furnace) for continuous power
  • Combine with Battery Large for stable 24-hour operation without furnace fuel cost
  • Multiple T2 panels can feed a combiner for higher aggregate output on massive bases
  • Wire connections survive the T1→T2 upgrade (though panel rotates 180°)
  • No LED indicators present — monitor power state through connected cable visualization
  • Position panels for maximum sun exposure; roof placement or high elevation optimal
