Solar Panel

Primary power source. Generates electricity from sunlight during daytime hours.

Overview

The Solar Panel is the primary power source in LF PowerGrid. It converts sunlight into electricity that flows downstream to batteries and devices. Output is driven by the day/night cycle — it only generates power while the sun is up.

How It Works

The Solar Panel registers with the LFPG NetworkManager and is toggled on/off by a centralized sun-state timer. When the sun rises, all solar panels activate simultaneously. When it sets, they stop producing. There is no gradual ramp — it's binary on/off tied to the DayZ day/night cycle.

The panel can supply up to 20 u/s downstream. If connected devices draw more than capacity, the panel enters an overloaded state and the load ratio indicator rises.

Upgrading to T2

The Solar Panel can be upgraded to Solar Panel T2 (50 u/s) by attaching upgrade components:

  • LFPG Solar Plate — the upgraded panel surface
  • LFPG Solar Nails — mounting hardware

Once upgraded to T2, the panel cannot receive further attachments.

LED Indicator

  • Green: Generating power (daytime)
  • Off: No generation (nighttime)

Tips

  • Always pair with a battery for 24/7 power. Without storage, devices lose power at night.
  • One T1 panel (20 u/s) can run two ceiling lights (10 u/s each) comfortably.
  • For fridges (20 u/s) or water pumps (50 u/s), upgrade to T2 or use multiple panels.
  • Position doesn't affect generation — place wherever fits your base design.
