Pressure Pad

Floor-mounted sensor that triggers when stepped on.

Loading Pressure Pad...

Overview

The Pressure Pad is a passive floor-mounted sensor that generates a momentary power pulse whenever a player steps on it. Unlike active sensors, the pressure pad requires no power input—it directly generates its own signal when triggered. The pad automatically outputs a gated signal downstream while a player stands on it, and immediately cuts power when the player steps off. The pad features a pad_press animation showing smooth depression over 0.3 seconds, providing clear visual feedback of activation. Perfect for hands-free automation at doorways, entryways, and restricted areas.

How It Works

The Pressure Pad is a passive gating device that opens its gate whenever any player is standing directly on the pad and closes immediately when they step off. Unlike momentary switches that send a brief pulse, the pressure pad maintains an open gate for the entire duration of player contact. The pad_press animation visibly depresses over 0.3 seconds to provide clear tactile and visual feedback.

The pad requires power on input_0 to operate and consumes 5 u/s. When a player stands on it, the gate opens and allows downstream power flow at up to 20 u/s capacity. The gate closes instantly when the player leaves, making it ideal for doors, lighting, and any system that should activate only while someone is physically present at that location.

LED Indicator

  • Green: Gate open (player on pad, power flowing)
  • Red: Powered but gate closed (pad empty)
  • Off: No power available

Wiring Examples

Automatic Door Entry

Battery
Pressure Pad
Door Controller

Place the pad inside a doorway. The door automatically stays open as long as players are standing on it.

Welcome Lighting

Battery
Splitter
Pressure Pad
Ceiling Light
Other Device

Lights activate only when someone enters the room. When they leave, lights go dark to save power.

Multi-Zone Entrance

Connect multiple pressure pads as inputs to a AND Gate to combine their signals:

Pressure Pad 1 (exterior)
Pressure Pad 2 (airlock)
Pressure Pad 3 (interior)
AND Gate
Door Lock Release

Require players to stand on all three pads simultaneously to open the inner door (security check).

Tips

  • The pressure pad maintains gate-open only while a player stands on it—perfect for doors that shouldn't stay locked.
  • Position the pad slightly inside the doorway so players naturally trigger it when entering.
  • Combine multiple pads in AND logic for access control (all must be pressed to open).
  • Use with OR logic to create "any entrance" activation (press any pad to open central door).
  • The 5 u/s consumption is low—multiple pads in a large base won't significantly impact power budget.
  • Place the pad under a rug, mat, or carpet to disguise it cosmetically while maintaining functionality.
  • Pair with a Timer to extend the "open" duration even after the player steps off the pad.
